Pool Table Room Size Calculator

Estimate cueing space for 7FT, 8FT, 9FT pool tables and full-size snooker tables. Get the answer in feet, inches and metres—then send the plan to our factory team.
01

CHOOSE YOUR TABLE

Calculate a comfortable playing area.

Formula: playing-surface length or width + twice the selected cue length. This is a cueing-space estimate, not the table's outside footprint.

BEFORE YOU ORDER

Minimum cueing space is only the first check.

01 / CHECK THE REAL TABLE

Confirm the outside dimensions.

Aprons, rails and pockets extend beyond the playing surface. Ask for the selected model drawing before finalizing the room.

02 / MAP THE ROOM

Add obstacles and circulation.

Allow separately for walls, columns, doors, seating, scoreboards, cue racks and safe circulation around the playing zone.

03 / PLAN THE ROUTE

Measure delivery and installation access.

Door widths, lifts, stairs, corners and the final assembly area should be checked before shipment.

CALCULATION METHOD

Transparent dimensions, not a black-box answer.

The 9FT pool preset uses the WPA recommended 100 × 50 inch playing surface. The full-size snooker preset uses the WPBSA 11 ft 8½ in × 5 ft 10 in playing area. The 7FT and 8FT presets follow the common 2:1 playing-surface convention; confirm the exact model drawing before purchase.

This calculator adds one selected cue length to every playing side. It does not include furniture, spectator space, columns or the table's rail width.

QUICK ANSWERS

Pool table room planning FAQ

How much space do you need around a pool table?

A practical minimum is one cue length from each edge of the playing surface. Choose the cue you expect players to use, then add more room for backswing comfort, furniture and circulation.

Can I use a shorter cue in a small room?

Yes. A shorter cue can solve isolated tight spots, but frequent obstructions usually mean a smaller table or a revised room layout will play better.

Is the calculated size the same as the table footprint?

No. The calculator starts with the playing surface. The physical table is larger because rails, cushions, aprons and pockets extend outside it. Always confirm the exact model drawing.
